Suspect PACS Websites - Original Content Please!
I have been noticing lately that there are some suspect PACS websites out there that. What I mean is that they are simply providing copies of articles written in other journals, books or even other websites. Don't get me wrong, the content is relevant and useful for PACS Administrator but this unoriginal content is just bothersome. Even worse, the suspect website is plastered with advertisement after advertisement. Sure, everybody is entitled to make some cash here and there, but how 'bout some original content please! The latest offender I found while perusing the web tonight was called the PACSDigest. This seems to be a relatively new site and there are some interesting stories on the site, but nothing seems to be original content from the web site author. For example, there is a cool article on the web about using the iPod to store medical images but there is no credit to the article which actually appeared in a Dec '04 article by the RSNA. By the way, I am storing images on my iPhone which is even cooler :^) Why am I making the fuss you ask? Because I try to think up original content as much as possible. I am developing the PACS-Admin.com website and I pride the fact that the content I write there is all original. I'll start using this topic to identify websites that you might want to be wary of. Again, there is nothing wrong with the content, you might even find it useful, but just don't give these web copy machines money by clicking through their ads. They didn't earn it nor did they credit the one who did.
