SIIM 2008 Day 2
SIIM 2008 Day 2 brought more learning and more fun. The first session I attended this morning was regarding the calibration of monitors to the DICOM standard. There was a lot discussed at this session so my note taking was lacking but I did get some pretty interesting tidbits. There was a a lengthy discussion regarding information security and the prevention of healthcare data loss, a subject that should frighten all of us. The final session that I attended today covered technical aspects of PACS such as DICOM troubleshooting, imaging device testing prior to hooking into your system and asset management.

Besides some learning, today also offered some diversions as well. I was able to sneak away this afternoon and visit the famous Pike St Fish Market and the market center in downtown Seattle. I had some great oysters and was able to see some of the first catch of this seasons Coper River Salmon get tossed around. I also took the opportunity to check out Safeco Field when I went to the Seattle Mariners game against the San Diego Padres. The Mariners didn't fair to well, but his is fine considering I am a Mets fan anyway. Day two was a success in both the learning and entertainment categories.
