ABII - One of the two professional groups offering PACS certification.
ABII – The American Board of Imaging Informatics This board was founded this year two organizations in conjunction with each other, the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) The main goal of the board is to identify a level of professionalism and skill found in PACS Administrators. A unique combination of skills held both an IT specialist and a Radiologic technologist, both very different trades by nature, but yet requiring a solid competency in both to succeed in the world of imaging informatics has been identified by this organization. By identifying a specific competency level for PACS administrators, the board aims to enhance patient care by identifying the people who can select, install and maintain informatics systems that improve the quality of workflow within the radiology department. The Imaging Informatics board manages the Imaging Informatics Professional (IIP) exam program that certifies people who meet the experience requirements and display proficiency in all skill areas of PACS administration by passing the CIIP (Certified Imaging Informatics Professional) exam.
